JPG / JPEG → WebP. Encode JPG photos as WebP for web delivery. Adjust quality and compare the resulting file size before replacing originals. Server processing; temporary files. Maximum 10 MB per file, with batch and daily limits shown here.

What this conversion does

The server reads each JPG and encodes a new WebP. Dimensions stay the same, but the original JPEG compression cannot be undone.

Quality, size and transparency

WebP output may be smaller, but savings vary by source and quality. A JPG has no transparency to restore. Re-encoding can add visible artifacts if quality is too low.

Privacy and file details

This converter uploads files to the server for processing. The output is temporary and is scheduled for deletion after about 30 minutes. Conversion re-encodes the image and does not promise to preserve EXIF, GPS, or the original color profile. Keep your original if you need any of those details.

When to use it

Choose WebP for a site or app that accepts it. Keep the JPG when a marketplace, email workflow, or form requires JPEG.

If a file fails

If conversion fails, make sure the source is a valid .jpg or .jpeg under 10 MB, and not merely a differently encoded file with a changed extension.

Common questions

Will WebP always be smaller?

No. Check the actual before and after bytes. A previously optimized JPG may not gain much.

Can this restore lost JPG detail?

No. The WebP starts with the decoded JPG pixels, including existing compression artifacts.
